IDEX is getting ready to join the fray at next week’s TRUSTECH 2017 event, where the company’s executives will showcase its biometric smart card technology.
The company has been busy raising its profile in this emerging market, with CEO Hemant Mardia having recently delivered a presentation at a sold-out seminar on ‘Biometrics in Banking and Payments’ organized by the European Association of Biometrics. IDEX has seen its fingerprint scanning technology used in trials of biometric payment cards conducted by Mastercard this year, and has seen broader interest in the solution; looking ahead in its recent Q3 update, the company indicated that it’s aiming for a marketshare of 30 percent or more in this area by the end of 2020.
Accordingly, IDEX says that at TRUSTECH 2017 it will demonstrate its latest smart card technologies, and that its management team “will be hosting meetings with major customers and industry partners at the conference” in pursuit of commercialization, according to a statement.
Biometric smart cards look to be a hot topic at the event, with NEXT Biometrics also having just announced that it would showcase its flexible fingerprint sensor technology for smart cards during TRUSTECH 2017. The event will take place in Cannes, France, from November 28th to 30th.
