Huawei Honor 9i and Nova 2i Smartphones Use FPC Sensors

Two more new smartphones are using Fingerprint Cards (FPC) sensors for their fingerprint scanning capabilities.

Huawei Honor 9i and Nova 2i Smartphones Use FPC SensorsBoth are from Huawei. One, the Nova 2i, is a mid-range smartphone aimed primarily at the Malaysia market. The other is the Honor 9i, a kind of sequel device to the Honor 9 launched earlier this year, and is aimed at the India market. Each of the smartphones features a 5.9″ display, a Kirin 659 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM.

Both devices also use an FPC1028 sensor. In a statement announcing the new integrations, Fingerprint Cards said the model offers “an ultra-low power consumption and a small footprint resulting in a very compact and affordable sensor.”

The sensor made its debut with an integration announced at the end of last month – also in a Huawei device, the Maimang 6. Soon after, it made its appearance in another Huawei smartphone in the Honor 7X, with the latest integration announcements further indicating Huawei’s enthusiasm for the biometric solution.
