Samsung Pay could launch in the UK alongside the company’s new flagship smartphones.
At a recent Samsung event, Head of Samsung Pay Nathalie Oestmann told the audience that the mPayment platform would hit the European market in early 2016; and given that this assertion came almost immediately after Samsung Marketing VP Rory O’Neill made comments highlighting the quality of “the next Galaxy” device, it led some to conclude that the two launches are likely to coincide after the Samsung Galaxy S7 gets its official launch just ahead of Mobile World Congress later this month.
Meanwhile, new images have leaked of the Galaxy S7. French and Spanish sites have shared images of what is thought to be an inoperable model of the device, while smartphone sleuth Evan Blass has posted an image of the Galaxy S7 Edge. The devices look quite similar to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, with smoothly curved edges and, once again, a screen with curved edges in the cases of the S7 Edge.
The newest Galaxy devices are expected to be announced alongside another major device in a different category of hardware: a 360-degree VR camera. Samsung has hinted at interconnectivity between these devices, but the nature of that functionality still isn’t clear. MWC is just over a week away, so we should get some concrete answers soon.
