FPC Biometric Sensors Protect New Smartphones from OPPO, Honor and More

Latest Integrations Show Mobile Brands Keen On FPC's Low-Cost Biometric Sensor

Fingerprint Cards has revealed that its biometric technology is being used in another new slate of mobile devices from multiple different smartphone brands including Honor, OPPO, Realme, Razer, and Sharp.

Notably, many of the devices in question feature the FPC1511 fingerprint sensor, including the Honor 8A Pro, Honor 10i, Honor 20i, OPPO A9, and RealMe 3 Pro. Announced at the start of last summer, the FPC1511 is Fingerprint Cards’ most affordable fingerprint sensor yet, and has been an important component of the company’s strategy in the mobile sector, where it has had to contend with increased competition and dropping ASPs in recent years.

Meanwhile, the Razer Phone 2 features an FPC1145 fingerprint sensor, while the Sharp Aquos R3 uses the FPC1291 sensor model.

“We are very proud and delighted to provide world class biometrics for worldwide smartphone brands,” Fingerprint Cards said in a statement announcing the integrations.

The news comes on the heels of Fingerprint Cards’ announcement earlier this month of another slew of new smartphones featuring FPC sensors, including devices from Kyocera, Redmi, and Huawei. It all illustrates the prime importance of the mobile sector to Fingerprint Cards even as the company seeks to expand its business into new areas including biometric payment cards and the automotive sector.
