The swipe sensor technology featured in the recently launched Disney-themed Fujitsu smartphone is going to be making even more appearances in Asian built mobiles now that Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has racked up yet another design win (DW) from a Chinese manufacturer.
The DW, which will see the fingerprint authentication technology on an Android smartphone to be released before year’s end, was granted by an anonymous tier-two smartphone brand. The achievement comes on top of a large number of design wins in the region received during FPC’s recently concluded, personal record breaking second quarter.
Expecting several more design wins in Asia over the next few months, Fingerprint Cards president and CEO Johan Carlström called the Chinese smartphone market vital.
“China is now the world’s by far largest market for smartphones,” said Carlström, “With a forecasted sales volume of +440 million units in 2013. Chinese brands already account for a market share of more than 50% in the domestic market.”
