“Initially, only its French lab was capable of biometric testing, but the firm has now extended those services to its location in Taipei.”
Fime is now able to start testing biometric technologies through its Taiwan laboratory, the consultancy and QA testing firm has announced.
A little over a year ago, FIME was accredited by the FIDO Alliance as a testing lab under the latter’s Biometric Component Certification Program, which was first launched in 2018. The accreditation established Fime alongside Colorado’s iBeta Quality Assurance lab and Switzerland’s Idiap Research Institute as a certified tester of biometric components under the umbrella of FIDO’s authentication-focused cross-industry alliance.
Fime also has offices in Canada, the United States, the UAE, China, India, Japan, and Korea, with headquarters in France. Initially, only its French lab was capable of biometric testing, but the firm has now extended those services to its location in Taipei.
“Biometrics are a rare technology that can increase security while improving user experience,” commented Fime Testing Services VP Stéphanie El Rhomri. “Our consultancy, training, and laboratory services in France and Taiwan are empowering manufacturers and solution providers to launch quality biometric innovations quickly, easily and safely.”
El Rhomri added that Fime’s experts are working with organizations including “device makers, solution providers, banks and schemes to evaluate market trends and select the right biometric technologies to expedite the end of passwords.”
For FIDO’s part, Certification Director Dr. Rae Riviera emphasized the important role that testing labs play in supporting the organization’s mission of propagating the use of strong, post-password authentication methods.
“By offering expert consultancy to the ecosystem and testing biometric products in line with FIDO Alliance criteria, experts like Fime are helping us to realize our goal and driving the global uptake of simpler and stronger authentication solutions,” she said.
