Exadel Upgrades Open-Source CompreFace Facial Recognition Offering

Exadel Upgrades Open-Source CompreFace Facial Recognition Offering

Exadel has released an updated version of its open-source facial recognition platform. CompreFace 1.0 is designed to make the platform more user-friendly, and to give organizations the ability to integrate it with a wider range of services.

To that end, CompreFace 1.0 comes with an improved user interface that allows organizations to start collecting facial data without needing to write any dedicated code. The intuitive UI allows managers to review existing records to ensure that the images associated with each subject are in fact correct, while the new postman documentation feature will automatically generate code fragments in multiple languages to simplify and speed up the implementation of REST API requests.

The rest of the upgrades will either make CompreFace easier to deploy, or make it compatible with new systems. With regards to the former, Exadel has updated its instructions for AWS and CloudFormation deployments, which will in turn reduce development times for organizations that want to use CompreFace with an Amazon AWS solution. With regards to the latter, CompreFace now allows organizations to apply facial recognition to footage pulled from CCTV cameras managed through the Home Assistant program. The utility leverages the open-source Double Take code library, and allows users to link CompreFace to the Frigate object detection system and the unRAID file server offering.

“With the support of the developer community, Exadel has continued to improve the CompreFace user experience,” said Exadel AI Practice Head Serhii Pospielov. “As AI practices continue to rise, we are seeing more use cases emerge for facial recognition. This open-source service allows anyone to enter the facial recognition market and access highly reliable services without needing deep coding or machine learning experience.”

Exadel launched the original CompreFace in November of 2020. The company has previously been identified as one of the top purveyors of cloud-based backend-as-a-service technology.
