Coolpad Note 5 Beast Features FPC1035 Sensor

September 30, 2016

Coolpad has integrated a Fingerprint Cards sensor into its latest smartphone. The Coolpad Note 5 Beast features an FPC1035 sensor.

Coolpad Note 5 Beast Features FPC1035 SensorIt’s a sensor model that has proven popular, with integrations in devices from Nubia, 360, and BQ in recent weeks. Coolpad itself also used the sensor in its Max Lite smartphone, an integration announced this past summer.

The integration caps a busy month for FPC, whose sensor integration in the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, announced near the start of the week, is embedded under the device’s glass front enabling the handset’s buttonless design. That points the way toward future integrations that could see the deployment of fingerprint sensors embedded in device displays.

Meanwhile, this month has also seen the company’s CEO publicly mulling the idea of acquisitions to help accelerate FPC’s expansion beyond the mobile biometrics market that has been its mainstay. It all points to continued momentum for FPC, with the company clearly not getting too comfortable in its leading position as a sensor supplier to smartphone OEMs.
