The Togolese government has, for the fourth time since 2007, chosen Zetes for biometric voter enrollment, this time in preparation for its upcoming 2015 presidential election. Zetes, a veteran of supplying solutions for biometric elections, will be providing a comprehensive solution to the nation, having signed a new contract with the Government of the Republic of Togo.
“It is an honour for us to be entrusted yet again by the authorities of the Republic of Togo for the enrolment of its citizens”, says Alain Wirtz, CEO of Zetes Group. “This fourth contract is an excellent pledge of loyalty and attests to the quality of the comprehensive solution proposed by Zetes for projects of this magnitude.”
Because of Zetes’s history in aiding Togo with its elections, a new set of challenges face the company as it readies to have everything in working order by the election. The Republic still has mobile enrollment kits from the previous Zetes contracts, as well as an existing database that contains over 3 million records. This contract will see the company having to update the database and renew some of the equipment, while also rolling out new next generation hardware.
The database update will include entering newly eligible voters into the system while removing redundant entries (due to death, having moved or lost voter card).
Regular readers of findBIOMETRICS will recognize Zetes as a regular player in biometric voter registration. In May, the company announced that it will be providing its services and solutions to Uganda in preparation for the 2016 election. Democratic Republic of Congo, Cape Verde, Burundi, Gabon and Chad have all also benefited from Zetes’ previous generation of biometric kits for similar reasons.
