Online identity management solutions provider Okta has announced new tools for developers aimed at helping to make their software more secure.
Developers can implement IP blacklisting to keep end users off of potentially hacked sites, or take advantage of a new functionality that detects whether they’re using unsafe or previously compromised passwords.
Perhaps more importantly, the Okta Identity Cloud now offers an upgraded suite of authentication tools. The platform already supported push-based one time passwords and biometrics; now, such tools have been augmented with support for email as a second factor of authentication.
It’s not the first time Okta has demonstrated an interest in multi-factor authentication. As far back as 2015, the company integrated Yubico’s YubiKey devices into its Adaptive MFA platform, allowing end users to authenticate in part by tapping Yubico’s USB keys.
Other new features introduced to Okta’s platform include branding tools for custom email domains and URLs, an expanded API access management feature, and a Developer Edition featuring broader SDK and coding language support.
