OKI Delivers Iris Recognition Cameras to Pictet Bank in Geneva

IRISPASS®-M met the demands of high security entry access system

Tokyo, Japan, – Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced its delivery of IRISPASS®-M iris recognition cameras to Pictet & Cie Bank, a private bank in Geneva, Switzerland. Pictet chose IRISPASS-M to bring the highest level of security at the entrances of high protection room in its newly constructed headquarter office buildings. The system has already been in operation partially and the full system will run by early 2007, when the building constructions will be fully completed.

Pictet had been looking for a high security system in order to secure their new buildings. It aimed to ensure the individuals who enter to the facilities by eliminating tokens or passwords which can be stolen or disclosed. The usage of the device and authentification speed were also important for the bank and thus the biometrics technology was adopted and the IRISPASS-M was chosen for the entry access control into the highest secured area by its feature and performance.

The system was developed by Inetrflex SA, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, headquartered in Lonay, Switzerland, as the prime contractor with collaborative work by byometric systems AG, in Germany, and other companies. The IRISPASS-M cameras are connected to the central authentication server and control the access into each room by considering given permissions to each employee.

The reasons for the choice of OKI’s IRISPASS-M were its function of “one to many” identification method, which is achieved by the accuracy of “1 in 1.2 million” in error rate, and its excellent usage of the camera and authentication speed, which enables authentication within 2 seconds by simply standing in front of the camera, without any contact. The flexibility in system integration by network connectivity and availability of the Software Development Kit (SDK) were another reasons.

“It is my great pleasure to provide Pictet with our IRISPASS-M, offering three major essentials, accuracy, speed and easy-to-use features,” said Yoichi Kawashima, President of Systems Hardware Company at Oki Electric Industry. “We are also happy to continuously work together with byometric systems as a local partner following the successful installation of the Border Control System running at the Frankfurt airport. OKI will continue to introduce IRISPASS-M for various applications and to promote the products actively to the global market.”

The IRISPASS-M is suitable for various application systems such as Border Control System at airports, Time and Attendance System at governmental organizations, companies, schools, and Lock Control System for safe or locker at financial agencies or rail stations.
