Last week we were introduced to Orchestra, the large scale identity platform at the heart of Vision-Box’s Happy Flow border control deployment in Aruba, and which will be showcased at connect:ID this week. Technavio’s latest report on the smartphone voice recognition market is showing steady growth as companies aim to combine speech recognition and voice authentication technologies on mobile applications. Meanwhile, Nuance Communications was in the news with its Dragon Legal system which allows legal professionals to prepare documents via voice command.

In fingerprint news last week we reported on the latest research that has the internet talking about liveness detection: researchers at MSU have found a way to spoof certain smartphone fingerprint sensors with an inkjet printer and special ink. The presentation attack, which targets consumer grade, 2D fingerprint sensors, highlights a visible need for anti-spoofing measures in smartphones with post-password tech.
Meanwhile, the fingerprint space was filled with previews for news products coming this week. Integrated Biometrics, Green Bit, and HID Global will all be demonstrating and announcing products this week in Washington, DC at connect:ID. NEXT Biometrics took to the popular American radio waves last week with CEO Tore Etholm-Idsøe interviewed for NPR’s hit show Here &Now. DOCOMO and Nok Nok Labs made FIDO Alliance-centric headlines last week too, and Fingerprint Cards (FPC) announced that its fingerprint sensor was included on the latest Coolpad handset.

Iris biometrics company CMITech announced the results of its latest series B financing round last week, raking in $2.1 million. ImageWare, in the meantime, announced that it will be holding a conference call this coming Wednesday to discuss its Q4 and year-end 2015 fiscal results.

In FinTech last week we reported on Anviz Global’s work with the Bank of Mongolia in terms of biometric security. We saw the positive results of the implementation of biometrics for the purpose of mitigating fraud in Ireland where a social insurance fraudster was caught via the use of facial recognition, and also in Nigeria where DERMALOG’s biometrics are deployed in an anti-fraud capacity. Additionally, BC Card joined the FIDO Alliance board of directors.

Last week brought the announcement that Hewlett Packard Enterprise company Aruba integrated ImageWare Systems’ biometric technology into its ClearPass system. Crossmatch announced enhancements to its DigitalPersona Altus platform too, while we learned that Sesnory’s TrulySecure technology is helping track attendance in South America thanks to an integration with Inngresa’s mobile solution. ZKAccess made the news as well, with a successful showing at the New Jersey Electronic Security Association Annual Symposium Expo in Atlantic City.

The Nebraska DMV will be using MorphoTrust’s tablet based RoadTest solution for drivers license examinations, we reported last week. Green Bit will be aiding the Jordan eID project with its Multiscan527 fingerprint scanners, and we learned that the Indian government has collected the biometrics of nearly one billion citizens for national ID purposes.
