Microsoft is highlighting the availability of computer devices supporting Windows Hello authentication via face recognition in a new blog post.
The company points to 10 offerings, ranging from the Dell Inspiron 5000, a 2-in-1 convertible tablet device, to the Samsung Notebook 9 laptop. They all feature the infrared sensor technology needed for Windows 10’s facial biometrics security, and thus offer users “enterprise-grade security without having to type in a password”, as Microsoft’s Elana Pidgeon puts it.
There are now around 100 devices supporting Windows Hello biometric authentication more broadly, whether through facial recognition or fingerprint scanning. It’s a testament to apparently growing consumer interest in biometric security, and the resulting enthusiasm to support such technology among Microsoft’s third party OEM partners.
And, of course, even when a given computer doesn’t offer embedded support for Windows Hello biometric authentication, there are USB peripherals available to help.
