Paycor has announced an update to its human capital management platform, Perform HR, to be released this quarter. Among many other features, the platform uses biometric technology to identify employees.
The main objective of the platform is to simplify a number of administrative tasks associated with HR. It provides a digital means of tracking things like employee goals and certifications, for example, and it lets employees build their own online profiles. It also helps to automate 401(k) planning and ACA compliance, and it allows administrators to collect e-signatures for employee documents.
Perhaps most importantly, though, it allows for biometric time and attendance tracking via its PT100F clocks, which are able to scan employee fingerprints. Such systems are increasingly being introduced in various work environments, almost always with an eye to reducing the administrative costs associated with time and attendance tracking, but also sometimes with the goal of cutting down on employee fraud. And while some deployments have been met with resistance over privacy concerns, that seems to be the exception in the current climate.
