Market research firm TechNavio has released a new report touching on behavioral biometrics. Entitled “Global Keystroke Biometrics Market 2016-2020”, the report predicts a CAGR of 10.09 percent for its forecast period.
‘Keystroke biometrics’ refers to how users manipulate their keyboards. It’s one component of the broader, emerging field of behavioral biometrics, which analyzes the unique individual patterns that emerge from user behavior. Platforms such as NuData’s NuDetect, for example, leverage keystroke patterns and other biometrics to enable passive authentication, often as part of a larger security framework.
It’s a still-nascent field, but TechNavio is already identifying prominent vendors including BehavioSec, AuthenWare, and others. The market research firm also suggests that there is a growing demand for cloud-based keystroke biometrics solutions, and notes that with the field still emerging, pure play vendors are focusing on R&D and more localized markets.
Still, given the steady growth predicted for the market and growing excitement about behavioral biometrics more generally, the market landscape could change considerably over the next several years.
