Running from September 16 to 18 in Tampa, Florida, the 2014 Global Identity Summit (formerly the Biometric Consortium Conference) will be a major focus in the biometrics industry in only a few weeks time. Expect major announcements, product launches and guest speakers. Today, SecuGen Corporation announced that it will be partaking in the festivities by showcasing its new Hamster Pro Duo CL contactless smartcard reader during the event.
A brand new device from SecuGen, the Hamster Pro Duo SL is a multifactor reader planned to be released shortly. It features the corporation’s U20 sensor: a FAP 20 certified optical fingerprint sensor. The U20 has also been certified for Personal Identity Verification (PIV) specifications by the FBI.
Dan Riley, SecuGen’s vice president of engineering, says, “This new combination device is our response to clear customer requirements. There are a great many large projects around the world that are smartcard based including some important national ID projects. This new product was designed with projects like these in mind.”
Won Lee, CEO of Secugen, was the recent subject of a FindBiometrics interview conducted by Peter O’Neill. In the discussion, Lee outlined his company’s reseller-focused business model. Today, he commented that the new Hamster unit fits well within this strategy.
“Our continuing goal is always to provide our reseller partners with the products and tools that they need to satisfy their end-user customer’s requirements,” says Lee. “I believe that this product does that again.”
The new multifactor biometric smartcard reader will be shown at booth 501 on the exhibition floor at the Global Identity Summit (GIS).
The Summit is just one of the major industry events scheduled for the third week of September in Tampa. The day before the GIS begins, Biometrics UnPlugged will be bringing industry executives to the Tampa Museum of Art for a day of interactive keynotes from guest speakers, and an expert panel.
