Safran Identity & Security is opening a new office in Silicon Valley. More specifically, the France-based company’s new facility will open in Redwood City toward the end of the year.
In a statement announcing the new office, the company said it will feature an R&D lab focused on digital payments, digital identity, and the Internet of Things. Safran Identity & Security also suggested that visitors will have the opportunity to get hands-on with the company’s biometric identification technologies.
As Safran Identity & Security CEO Anne Bouverot explained, the company’s exploration of these sophisticated technologies warranted an effort to get closer to what is arguably the world’s center of digital innovation; “it was the next logical step for us to become a part of the vibrant innovation community in Silicon Valley,” she said.
The move indicates that the work of Safran’s identity security arm will continue apace even as the company negotiates the terms of its sale with Oberthur Technologies parent company Advent International.
