BIO-key(R) Granted Image Identification System Patent for Award Winning Biometric Technology - April 28, 2008
Patented BIO-key software delivers consistent quality images, resulting in higher accuracy and better user experience
WALL, N.J., - BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI - News), a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, today announced that on April 15, 2008, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued US patent No. 7,359,553 covering BIO-key's image enhancement and data extraction core algorithm components.
The first feature of the newly patented algorithm covers BIO-key's unique capability to quickly and accurately transform a fingerprint image into a computer image that can be analyzed to determine the critical data elements. Another component of the Image Identification System covered by this patent is the ability to quickly match an image among thousands or more of image models (fingerprints). The ability to quickly provide feedback without compromising accuracy is a key ingredient for any biometric identification solution.
