NEXT Biometrics continues to make headway in its efforts to expand its market reach. The company announced today that it has found a distributor in the Indian market, via AqTronics Technologies.
In announcing the new partnership, NEXT Biometrics CEO Tore Etholm-Idsøe pointed to AqTronics’ experience and track record as the main draws appealing to his company, asserting that with its “more than 7 years of experience in the Indian biometrics industry, AqTronics has become a trusted and leading distributor for Identification products in India.“ Meanwhile, AqTronics Managing Director Rangaprasad Magadi explained that the low-cost yet accurate fingerprint sensors developed by NEXT are best-suited to capture much of the country’s market. “India’s billion people population, with close to 900 million phone subscribers, forms a major market for tablets, smart phones, time & attendance, eKYC and IOT markets,” he said.
There’s also the enormous potential afforded by India’s Aadhaar national biometric ID project, which extends into a wide range of government services. While most of the current associated contracts have presumably been finalized already, the program continues to expand, and has also helped to familiarize citizens of the country with biometric technology. That should help to make the market even more primed for NEXT-made sensors in a range of devices, offering the company a high potential for business growth going forward.
