BIO-key is welcoming a distinguished new member to its Board of Directors. Pieter Knook is bringing his decades of mobile and software technology experience to the company.
In the breadth of Knook’s executive and board positions, mobile and IT play a central role. He recently held the position of Internet Services Director for UK-based Vodafone, where he was responsible for consumer data; and he also spent 18 years with Microsoft, where he was SVP of its Mobile Communications Business between 2001 and 2008. In that role, according to a statement from BIO-key, he “transformed a struggling business and led it to 40% annual revenue growth”. Knook’s ties from that experience could help to deepen BIO-key’s partnership with the tech giant, with BIO-key already being Microsoft’s biometric technology partner as it has sought to promote its Windows Hello security system.
Of course, Knook could be a great help to BIO-key in many other areas, too. Commenting on his appointment, BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale lauded Knook’s “experience and track record” as well as the global nature of his business background, given that Knook has worked in America, Asia, and Europe. “With the addition of Pieter, who is located in the UK, we now have a worldwide presence with two Directors in Asia, one in the UK and the remaining members in the US, a clear testament to the emerging global footprint of our business,” DePasquale said.
