Clute, Texas-based Karsof Biometric Technology has taken aim at the general private market. The company announced in a press release that it “is the Future of Exact Identification.”
The company has been around for some years, operating under the name Karsof Systems. The company has offered a kind of one-stop shop for biometric security solutions including fingerprint, iris, retina, and face scanning technologies with applications in criminal forensics, IT securitization, official documents such as e-Passports, and others. In 2010, Karsof Systems won a GSN (Government Security News) award for Best Authentication and Identity Management System.
Now, Karsof seems to be undergoing a bit of rebrand with the Karsof Biometric Technology moniker, and appears to be courting the private sector, describing in a press release the revolutionary potential of biometric technology in general, and stating that the company “if focused on helping private companies and businesses, as well as governments” to protect themselves and those they serve. The shift in the company’s focus may reflect the booming popularity of biometric technology in the private sector, and its increasing acceptance in mainstream culture. In any case, Karsof can at least boast of having the expertise that comes with a few years’ experience in the field.
