ImageWare has won a contract to provide its biometric technology to five Alaskan airports, the company has announced.
While such technology is increasingly popular for airport applications when it comes to passenger screening, in the case of this deal it will be used for employee credentialing. As ImageWare CEO Jim Miller explained in a statement announcing the agreement, ImageWare’s technology will be used “for multi-modal biometric background checks and authentication of the facility’s employees, vendors, and contractors.”
The development illustrates the breadth of ImageWare’s business activities. While much of the company’s big news lately has revolved around the business applications of its biometric identity technology, ImageWare has previously seen airport deployments of its technology in Los Angeles and Canada.
The new Alaskan deployments will begin in Q2 of this year, and ImageWare expects to complete them in Q3.
