Dubai-based bank Emirates NBD is taking advantage of biometrics to better serve branch visitors, reports Finextra.
The bank is equipping specially-assigned customer service agents with tablet devices equipped with biometric identification technology that will allow them to identify customers with respect to the data connected to their Emirates Identity Authority Cards. The aim is to save time, both for customers and bank staff, with the tablets designed to facilitate common transactions.
The biometric tablets are being implemented alongside Cockpit, a digital system designed to retrieve key details of customer profiles and present them to bank staff in a unified dashboard.
Emirates NBD has previously shown initiative in embracing this kind of sophisticated technology, having announced plans to adopt biometric authentication for customers back in January of 2015. Biometric technology has a growing role in the UAE more generally, with government authorities having initiated a project to deploy biometric screening systems in the country’s airports that same year.
