In announcing the move, bank officials focused heavily on the increased security it offers, with Consumer Banking head Bea Tan explaining, “We want to protect your account to an even greater extent,” and Citibank Philippines CEO Aftad Ahmed asserting that it was virtually impossible that a fraudster would impersonate a customer’s unique voiceprint. But the move also offers benefits in customer convenience and administrative efficiency by significantly cutting down the time it takes to identify callers.

BusinessMirror reports that Citi expects about three million customers to enroll in the service within three years.
