The MedicalKeyring has incorporated the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard, according to smart card company SmartMetric’s president and CEO Chaya Hendrick.
The MedicalKeyring, slated for release in August, will be used by patients to carry around medical records such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, electronically as DICOM files containing patient info and image specifications. All of this is protected by the user’s fingerprint. Using SmartMetric’s biometric technology, the sensitive information stored on the electronic medical record (EMR) device is not only conveniently portable, but also safe and secure.
