Identix Identification Services Selected to Provide Statewide Electronic Fingerprinting Services for Michigan
MINNETONKA, Minn. -Michigan Joins California, Illinois, Tennessee in Selecting IIS to Provide Statewide Fingerprinting Services to Employers and Government Agencies
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world’s leading multi-biometric technology company, announced today that it was selected by the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center to provide statewide electronic fingerprinting services and related processing for licensing and employment purposes for the state of Michigan. Pursuant to state and federal laws requiring applicant background checks, Identix Identification Services (IIS) was certified to provide its complete suite of electronic fingerprinting services to employers and governmental agencies throughout Michigan that are auth orized to submit fingerprint-based criminal history checks for job applicants and licensees. IIS and one other company are the only companies certified by the Michigan State Police to provide these services throughout the State. According to the Michigan State Police, the State currently has requirements to process fingerprint-based background checks on approximately 100,000 applicants per year. New legislation is expected to add an additional 150,000 applicants per year in the near future. Once operational, Michigan agencies, businesses and applicants will be able to schedule a fingerprinting appointment at one of IIS’ Michigan fingerprinting centers by calling 866-226-2952 or via the IIS website at www.identix.com/iis. In addition to its most recent statewide win in Michigan, IIS provides statewide electronic fingerprinting services to California, Illinois and Tennessee.
“We have seen growth in the demand for fingerprint services in the commercial, enterprise, and state and local government sectors,” said Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. “With more states passing legislation mandating fingerprint background checks for additional job categories, we believe Identix Identification Services’ business is well positioned to continue to grow.”
About Identix Identification Services
IIS maintains a network of Identix live scan systems at 130 fingerprinting centers, where certified technicians have processed nearly 3,000,000 applicants to date. IIS can easily customize its established fingerprint solutions to meet the needs of any business or government agency to provide a fast, simple, convenient, and professional fingerprinting experience.
Identix believes that certain employers, such as federal or state government agencies, child care agencies, banks, securities companies and transportation agencies, would be well served to outsource the background c heck function as opposed to developing this capability in-house. Using state-of-the-art live scan systems from Identix, IIS helps to ensure accurate background check results the first time prints are submitted, significantly reducing the processing time, and at the same time, eliminating the risks to employers that an employee, who has begun work, may have a criminal record.
