I-Med Selects Hypercom Technology for Biometric ID Authentication And Healthcare Payments in Chile
Project Expected to Include More Than 12,000 Hypercom Terminals
Global payment technology leader Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that I-Med Red Medica, a large network in which lending, financial, suppliers and beneficiaries of the health system participate, is centralizing and enhancing its new ISAPRES biometric reading and payment activities in Chile using Hypercom(R) ICE(TM) information and transaction terminals, BioPIN(TM) finger-scanning pads and software. The all-Hypercom system will help thousands of physicians and other medical providers quickly and securely verify patient identity and eligibility for payments. This is the latest in a series of new contract wins for the global payment technology leader. I-Med’s selection of Hypercom was through Red Comercio Company, which has managed the project as a System Integrator. I-Med expects to deploy more than 12,000 Hypercom terminals with peripherals by 2006.
“We are centralizing and enhancing our services and we have selected Hypercom for this important effort because they are the payment technology leader and the clear global market leader. Their information and transaction devices are smart, fast, easy to use, and their BioPIN ID authentication is easy and highly accurate,” said Mr. Jorge Martinez, Red Comercio.
“Leading healthcare innovators like I-Med are demanding technologies that facilitate easier, faster and more secure patient authentication and save their health care providers and their patients time and money — and that is exactly what our information and transaction terminals and technology deliver,” said German Cardenas, president, Hypercom Latino America. “I-Med’s selection of Hypercom once again underscores and reinforces the versatility of our smart, fast and easy-use terminals and the value-added features and services that they deliver to businesses worldwide.”
Fast, Smart, Easy-Use Terminals = Increased Revenues, More Value for Business
Businesses worldwide recognize Hypercom as the world’s premier provider of fast, high performance card payment and transaction networking technology and products. Hypercom’s Internet-enabled ICE devices are high performance, touch screen-based card payment terminals that incorporate physical security features and Hypercom’s HyperSafe(TM) operating system.
In addition to the embedded HyperWare(R) payment applications, Hypercom’s ICE terminals support a range of value-added applications and services including electronic signature and receipt capture, on-screen advertising, customer-pole display, interactive electronic coupons — as well as secure credit, debit, EBT and EMV smart card functions. Additionally, Hypercom’s ICE terminals meet the latest security requirements for PIN-based transactions including 3DES. When coupled with Hypercom’s BioPIN finger-based identity authentication pad and patient card number, the solution provides an extremely reliable method of ID verification.
