EyeLock has a new distribution partner. The company has teamed up with ADI Global Distribution, a company offering low-voltage electronics and security devices.
The company will offer EyeLock’s iris scanning technologies through its North American outlets, which number over a hundred. In a statement announcing the partnership, ADI VP Marco Cardazzi praised EyeLock’s products as being “easy to use and integrate with many of the world’s largest and most respected access control platforms,” and indeed, EyeLock also just recently announced a big new partnership with Tyco Integrated Security. Cardazzi added that EyeLock’s products “are offered at a very competitive price point in the marketplace.”
They could prove a popular sell for ADI at a time of growing market excitement about iris biometrics as the technology starts to emerge in big-name consumer electronics such as Samsung’s new Galaxy Note7 smartphone. And EyeLock’s technology may be even more powerful than what’s used in that high-profile device, as the company claims it can scan a user’s eyes from up to 60 cm away, and even through glasses.
The partnership should be a great benefit to EyeLock, too, of course. Commenting on the deal, EyeLock executive Anthony Antolino said, “ADI’s technical expertise, global reach and proven track record for delivering security products will allow us further penetration into the rapidly growing biometric market.”
