Viisage Technology has announced its Fault-Tolerant Distributed Production System (FT-DPS) for the drivers' license and secure identification market. The system enables customers to incorporate biometric security features on drivers' licenses/IDs while maintaining all relevant information in replicated databases.

The fault-tolerant features of the offering ensures all systems are continuously operational. Iftikhar Ahmad, vice president and general manager of Viisage's 3SI Business Unit said, "This new system demonstrates Viisage's commitment to offering our customers the most advanced and cost-effective solutions for producing secure identification documents. After 9/11, the need for having data replication along with secure fault tolerant systems has increased.
